The Old Baking Dish

A pastor was giving the message to his congregation one Sunday morning when he recounted the following story:

"My wife and I have this old baking dish that we picked up somewhere many years ago. It's a good quality baking dish, which is why we like it, but it's stained and doesn't look very nice. We've tried cleaning it with all sorts of products and chemicals, but the stains simply refuse to come off. So now we've given up. We'll still use it for baking, but not as much as we'd like to."

"One night we had some friends over for dinner. My wife had cooked so much food that we'd run out of...

What's God Like?

Question

I recently had a revelation about what God is like. I can't remember whether I read it somewhere or if it just came to me as I was reading the Bible, but either way I'd like to share it with you. First though, let's refresh our knowledge of algebra!

x = 5
Pretty easy, right? x equals 5. 5 is the same as x.

How about this:
y = x
In this case, y equals x. x is the same as y. If we have no other information, then we only know that they're the same as each other. But if we know what else one of them equals, we'll automatically know what the other one equals too. Assuming the statement above,...

Mother's Day, 2013

Ever since I created my Father's Day video back in 2005, I've been wanting to do a similar video for Mother's Day. 8 years later I finally did!

Created in the latest version of Windows Movie Maker, this video was shown in church on Mother's Day as a tribute to our Mums. It displays photos of mothers at various stages of 'motherhood' (e.g. childbirth, toddlers, teenagers, graduation, grand-kids, etc.) with a few verses from Proverbs 31 throughout. It features music by Michael W. Smith from his 'Glory' album, appropriately titled 'Heroes'.

Genesis

This video was in the making for about two years before it was finally finished and debuted at church during a sermon on honouring the God of creation. It's a journey through Genesis 1 showing live footage of God's creation set to dramatic music.

The voiceover at the beginning of the video is a recording by one of the crew of Apollo 8, reading from the book of Genesis on Christmas Eve, 1968. Video footage was taken from the BBC's 'Planet Earth' documentary TV series, while the music is 'Surrender to Hope' by Immediate Music.

My favourite part of the video is the awesome flock of birds on...

The Wonders of Creation

Originally created as a Powerpoint presentation for a school competition (in which I was one of the winners!), this video got updated and re-created in Windows Movie Maker. It goes through Genesis 1, quoting verses and displaying images of God's creation.

The music is Geoff Bullock's 'The Power of Your Love' from the album 'A Symphony of Hope 2'.

Easter 2008, Part 2 - He's Alive

At Easter my church holds two services: a Good Friday service and an Easter Sunday service. I decided to make a presentation in two parts to show at each of these services.

This second part was shown on Easter Sunday and displays scenes from the 'Jesus' film with a song by Don Francisco called 'He's Alive'. It shows how the disciples came to learn about Jesus' resurrection and is told from Peter's point of view.

Easter 2008, Part 1 - This Blood

At Easter my church holds two services: a Good Friday service and an Easter Sunday service. I decided to make a presentation in two parts to show at each of these services.

This first part was shown on Good Friday and displays scenes from 'The Passion Of The Christ' with a song by Carman called 'This Blood'. It starts with Jesus' flagellation and ends with His death on the cross.

The House of God

During a session of Cre8, we were given the task to create something based on the theme 'The House of God'. I decided to make a multimedia presentation and, after searching for something to use, came across a beautiful poem by Sherri Puckett titled 'The House Behind The Weeds'. I then found some music: 'Coming Home' from Edge Church's 'One Sunday Afternoon' album, and 'Thy Word' performed by Michael W. Smith. I put it all together and came up with this presentation.

Part of the Puzzle

Puzzle pieces

I have a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle of a Giant Panda that myself and Mum been trying to put together for over a year now (possibly closer to two years). We started off going really well, but then got stuck on some of the large areas of black fur and brown tree trunk. The semi-completed puzzle spent six months under a bed gathering dust, but is now back on the dining table and I'm vowing not to move it until it's finished and framed (I'm certainly not pulling it all apart again!).

I was just sitting there this afternoon grabbing random black pieces and trying to fit them into every available...
